WHAT WE DO
Making A Difference
BECOME A COLLABORATIVE PARTNER
Agency Partners in the Collaborative are either Food Distribution Hub providers to the Collaborative or Feeding Agencies who receive food from the Collaborative. Partners sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). There is required reporting, site standards and site visitation. Training is provided and expanded services and food delivery is available to all partners for free. The Collaborative has been fully grant funded.
Please go to the How We Do It page to see the 5 steps required to join the Collaborative.

USDA FOOD DISTRIBUTION
Several of our Agencies are also USDA Distribution Sites. Please check our Partner and Roster Map and look for those that have USDA monthly distributions at their site. We also distribute the Farmers to Families USDA Food Boxes.
NO FOOD GOES TO WASTEÂ PROGRAM
The Collaborative is committed to keeping food out of Landfills. High Desert Second Chance, the Collaborative's Lead Agency is partners with over 40 farmers in the High Desert who collect all left over food to go to farmers to feed livestock.

SENIOR AND VETERANS PROGRAMS
Point in time Counts for Homelessness and Food Insecurity for 2018 and 2019 have shown an increase in the Inland Empire of Homelessness for Seniors over the age of 62 and, for the first, time in 10 years an increase in Veteran Homelessness and Food Insecurity. During the Pandemic The Victor Valley Community Services Council was faced with the daunting task of delivering an ever increasing list of food to shut in Seniors. The Collaborative supported them with food and, eventually, was asked by VVCSC to take over the delivery of Food to Seniors and donated a Transport Van to High Desert Second Chance for this purpose.
GENERAL MEETINGS

The Collaborative holds General Meetings three times per year. The second Wednesday in February, June and October. Our purpose is to network, learn from area experts regarding meeting Food Insecurity and resources available to assist in identifying, assisting and mitigating this issue in the High Desert.
Please look for a current meeting notice on the Events page.
HIGH DESERT COLLABORATIVE FOOD BANK
Having a High Desert based centralized Food Bank, at High Desert Second Chance, allows partner agencies to obtain food at a much reduced expense to the non-profit feeding agency. In collaboration we are able to bring more and diverse food resources to our food insecure population. Our last addition was the Farmers to Families Food Box program through USDA. 10,000 Boxes a week go out of the Food Bank. This resilience has brought about partnerships outside of the Mission and several organizations collaborate together for community outreach.
